UberConference is finally out of private beta and ready to stomp on some legacy audio conferencing ant hills. Remember UberConference? They won TechCrunch Disrupt NYC with a very neat trick: their software will indicate who’s currently speaking during a group call. Hard to believe but it took till 2012 to get this essential feature.
It shouldn’t surprise you that this long overdue idea hadn’t come from the usual old-guard telephony suspects. Instead it took the crew at Firespotter Labs– some of the same minds behind Grand Central–to hack this one out.
I’ll be trying out Uber over the next few days. Brief report on my findings to follow.
