I had a brief chat this afternoon with Alex one of the co-founders of BridesView, the wedding site that picked up an honorable mention at NYCSW last month.
Alex told me he will be following through on his vision of a photo-intensive web experience that captures the dreaminess of weddings, along with offering some practical tips on where to find all the wedding accoutrements.
After I got off the phone, I took a quick peek at iVillage, a potential competitor.
I’ll confirm what the BridesView folks said about iVillage during their final presentation last month: there are some wedding pics hidden away, but you have to navigate through iVillage’s hyperlink maze to get a sighting of them.
This won’t be the case with BridesView, where photos move to the foreground and brides and brides-to-be become the center of attention as they comment and offer wedding planning answers in on-line forums.
Yes, they’re the “mayors” but it’s a position in which the social network leader in this case has a true emotional attachment to the constituents.
BridesView is in the process of lining up vendors—wedding photographers at this point — and is aiming for a public beta early this summer.
If we hear anything more, we’ll let you know.
