Quadrofoil Ramps Up Production

Happy 2016! My usual excuse for not blogging more frequently on TvB is that I’ve been busy on my other show. That’s still holds true for this current lapse.. Then I also took a little time off over the winter break. This is all to say that I missed an email marked with a dateline from “Slovenska”.

Over the last year, I’ve been writing about Slovenia’s emerging high-tech watercraft industry. In late December, our friends at Quadrofoil, makers of a personal electric hydrofoil, informed me that they will build a state-of-the-art production facility.  Expected to be completed in 2018, the factory will initially churn out 100 – 300 vessels per month.  And then as the factory is fully robotized, they will be pushing out 1000 – 3000 hydrofoils each month.

The company obviously see  a huge market. Let’s hope the price comes down. Last time I checked, their hydrofoil will set you back about 13,000 Euros!

I’m beginning to see the light after my recent snorkeling expedition in Turks and Caicos. Someone should be renting these things out on that island (and other resorts) to let snorkelers get to the good parts of the reef without having to fight the currents and cross paths with speeding boats.

Just saying.

In any case, good luck Quadrofoil!
