At least till December 15. At TvB, Spotted by Locals is our “essential travel aid.” We’re excited that all the information that the SbL crew has been accumulating since last February when they launched in NYC is now available on IOS and Android devices for bupkes, as we say in NYC.
The key advantage of the SbL app is that it works offline and becomes your virtual guide as you wander the streets of your favorite city–over 50 at this point. As cheapskates, we naturally took advantage of this freebie, and we downloaded the NYC app, where it now joins SbL’s Madrid and Paris–we did pay for those.
As we scrolled through their master NYC list, we were comforted to see favorite NYC restaurants, shops, museums, and hang-out spots. Of course, there are all the standard NYC institutions–Grand Central Terminal, Arthur’s Tavern, Loehman’s. But there are few that may surprise long-standing New Yorkers. Anyone been to Tender Buttons–the button emporium on East 62nd Street?
After the 15th, the NYC app returns to 3.59 Euros (that’s $5 for those non-New Yorkers who live in the US).
