We received our invitation this afternoon to TechCrunch Disrupt NY 2013. And that started us thinking about warmer weather and wandering around the aisles of TC Disrupt to find the next UberConference or Getaround.
The format is similar to past years: pre-event Hackathon, Startup Battlefield showdowns, speakers, panels (hmmm, I wonder if Marissa Mayer will be there?), more Battlefields, and it all culminates with a Final Battlefield winner taking home a $50,000 check or Michael Arrington’s current checking account balance, whichever is greater. We made up that last part.
The one thing that has changed, though, is the venue. It’s moved from Pier 94 on the Upper West Side–we’ll miss the sea air!–to more commuter friendly midtown location at the Manhattan Center on West 34th Street from April 27th to May 1.
By the way, Battlefield contestants still have time to apply: Monday February 25th is the closing date.
