Buzz Off! (for now)
In Social Studies on February 12, 2010
It’s most likely a case of cabin fever and general grumpiness from shoveling my way out of the instant tundra that befell New Jersey. I won’t be abandoning Twitter anytime soon for Google Buzz . But Buzz has a few things going for it.
Yes, I do appreciate the placement of Buzz within Gmail, the ability to grab Picassa photos, comment threads (yay!), and easy sharing of Google Reader links.
But I’m also a happy victim of what historians and economists call path dependencies and product lock-in: I came to Buzz after using and enjoying twitter, and I’m unlikely to change my habits.
Naturally, Google understands this and has made its new micro-blogging service enticing: it’s probably marginally easier to do everything I do in twitter with Buzz.
For now, I am voting for diversity and competition within the social media industry and will continue to bring my short post business to twitter—while hedging my bets by automatically reposting tweets to Buzz

Yea, buzz off indeed, but for privacy reasons.
